Sirince Village Tour

Sirince Village is located just 12 kilometers from Ephesus and 30 kilometers from Kusadasi. This quaint village has a fascinating history, having once been known as Cirkince, which means “ugly” in Turkish. It is said that the village was settled by freed Greek slaves who gave it this name in an effort to deter others from following them and disturbing their peace. However, over time, visitors came to realize that Sirince was far from ugly and instead called it “pretty,” hence its current name.

Situated on top of a mountain, Sirince offers stunning views of its wine yards and peach trees. The village is known for its delicious wines, olive oils, and garden produce, making it a foodie’s paradise. In addition to its delicious offerings, Sirince is also a great destination for nature lovers, with breathtaking views of olive groves and lush countryside on the way to the village.

If you’re planning a visit to Sirince, be sure to wear comfortable shoes and bring plenty of sunscreens, as the shade can be limited. The village is a bit of a hike, with approximately 2.5 miles of uneven and cobblestone surfaces and inclines to navigate, as well as 10-30 steps. It’s important to watch your step at all times to avoid injuries.

Nestled in the Aegean region of Turkey, Sirince is a charming village with a rich history and unique cultural blend. Located within the borders of Izmir province, this delightful village is set on a hillside above the town of Selcuk and is easily accessible from Kusadasi. Sirince is known for its beautiful old wooden houses with red-tiled roofs, and the air in the village is fresh and invigorating. The village was originally built by Greeks, but after the population exchange between Turkey and Greece in 1923, the Greeks were replaced by Turkish immigrants from Thessalonica. Today, Sirince prospers through agriculture and tourism, with a thriving local economy that includes the production of olive oil, wine, peaches, apples, figs, and walnuts. Sirince is also a rare and attractive example of Ottoman Turkish architecture, and the village is well protected to preserve its authentic charm. As you explore Sirince, you'll feel as if you've stepped back in time to the 19th century. The village is full of nostalgia, with its locally produced wine, traditional cuisine, and authentic lifestyle. Whether you're a history buff, a foodie, or just looking for a unique and relaxing vacation destination, Sirince is sure to delight and enchant you.
