About this activity

When it comes to sightseeing in Ephesus, there’s no shortage of options to choose from. However, if you want a truly unique and personalized experience, a private tour is the way to go. With an expert local guide leading the way, you’ll have the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of this ancient city.

Discover the Wonders of Ephesus on a Private Tour

On a private tour of Ephesus, you’ll visit a number of important landmarks, including the Ephesus Ancient City, the House of the Virgin Mary, The Temple of Artemis, and more. You’ll also have the chance to walk in the footsteps of Mother Mary, St. John, and St. Paul and learn about the early Christians and Romans who lived in Ephesus.

This tour is suitable for those who are able to walk approximately 2 miles over uneven and cobblestone surfaces, inclines, and 10-30 steps. It is recommended that you wear comfortable shoes, a hat, and plenty of sunscreens, as shade is limited. Please be sure to watch your step at all times to prevent injuries.

In addition to the historical sights, the tour also includes a delicious lunch at a local restaurant. The displayed price is per person for a regular tour, but our private tour option is perfect for groups of friends or family. Contact us for personalized tour options and rates. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to experience the best of Ephesus on a private tour.

Why choose a private tour of Ephesus over a regular group tour?

For starters, a private tour offers a more personalized experience. You’ll have the undivided attention of your expert local guide, who will be able to tailor the tour to your specific interests and needs. This is especially useful if you have any particular landmarks or aspects of Ephesus’s history that you’re particularly interested in.

In addition to a more personalized experience, a private tour also offers more flexibility. You’ll have the freedom to set your own pace and spend as much time as you like at each landmark. This is especially useful if you want to take photos or simply want to soak up the atmosphere at each location.

Of course, a private tour also offers the added benefit of exclusivity. Instead of being part of a larger group, you’ll be able to enjoy the sights and sounds of Ephesus with just your friends or family. This can make for a much more intimate and enjoyable experience overall.

So why wait? If you’re looking for a truly unique and personalized sightseeing experience in Ephesus, a private tour is the way to go. With an expert local guide leading the way, you’ll be able to fully immerse yourself in the rich history and culture of this ancient city. Your tour begins at the breathtaking Isa Bey Mosque, a stunning example of Seljukian architecture situated below the basilica of Saint John. Built by the master Syrian architect Ali son of Mushimish al-Damishki between 1374 and 1375, the Isa Bey Mosque is a true testament to the skill and attention to detail of its creators. Its delicate design is sure to impress even the most seasoned travelers.

Next on the tour, visit the ancient city of Ephesus, a major center of the Roman Empire and a testament to the advanced civilization that once inhabited it. As you stroll through the city, marvel at the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Trajan Fountain. Walk along the historic marble street and end your journey at the Great Theater, where St. Paul is said to have preached. Ephesus, the capital of ancient Anatolia, is a city brimming with history and cultural significance. This ancient metropolis has stood the test of time, with its world-renowned architectural landmarks still standing today. The Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world, is just one example of the city's rich history and cultural importance. The Ephesus Archaeological Site is a treasure trove of symbols of high-level urbanization, architecture, and religious history belonging to different civilizations, including the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Enjoy a buffet lunch at a local Turkish restaurant before visiting a carpet cooperative in the afternoon. Observe the intricate process of hand-making Turkish carpets and learn about the traditional techniques used by skilled artisans.

Following lunch, journey to Bulbul Mountain to visit the House of Virgin Mary, the final resting place of Mary where she spent her last years. Believed to have been brought to this stone house by Saint John, the House of Virgin Mary is a sacred site for both Christians and Muslims. Pilgrims flock to this location to pay their respects and honor the memory of the Virgin Mary, who lived in the house until her death.

The Temple of Artemis (also known as the Temple of Diana) is a marvel to behold. Built in the city of Ephesus, this ancient construction is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Though only the foundations remain today, the temple was once a stunning example of Hellenistic architecture, made entirely of marble and adorned with sculpted columns, capitals, and shafts. Some of the most beautiful remaining parts of the Temple of Artemis can be found in the London British Museum. These relics, which date back to the 6th century BC, showcase the temple's grandeur at the time, when it was surrounded by 36 enormous columns. Later, the Lydian King Kreisos ordered an expansion of the temple during the 6th century BC, and many of the exhibits in the London British Museum belong to this period. Despite the passage of time, the Temple of Artemis remains a testament to the incredible craftsmanship and artistry of the ancient world.

At the end of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel, with memories of your time in Ephesus to last a lifetime.

Awesome! A++ experience! Our guide, Gonca, was extremely knowledgeable, very accomodating, and personable. We would request her again. The tour was well organized and with Gonca's explanations we were very satisfied with the entire day. Our family is still talking about it a year later!

We had a great guide who knew a lot. Turkey is a beautiful country. Our guide took us to a leather warehouse where we got a private runway show of models wearing the jackets. It was amazing. The lunch we had was so quaint, outside in a little courtyard and the food was really good. We then stopped at a rug making factory to watch the women weave those rugs. Some were as high as 35,000. The owner showed us the difference in the threading to see how they get so expensive. All handmade. It was very interesting. Nobody seemed upset when we declined to buy anything

Fantastic tour! We were picked up at a central hotel on time and we boarded on a spacious coach, which made the travel very comfortable. There were only 5 of us, which made the tour a bit more private. The guide Zeynep was extremely friendly and has a stock full of knowledge about the culture and history of Turkey. She is very accommodating too. Although we were following a schedule, we did not feel rushed and we were given enough time to explore the sites by ourselves and plenty of opportunity to take photos. During mid-day, we went to this very quaint and quiet small restaurant. There were only 7 of us in the whole restaurant including the driver and guide, which made the dining experience more private. The lunch itself was an absolute delight! We were treated with different kinds of Turkish dishes, in which everything was so delicious, the servings were more than enough to fill our empty stomachs. Overall, this was an amazing experience from a first time visitor, exceptionally friendly and warm people and great food! I could greatly recommend this tour!
