Journey to Bulbul Mountain to visit the House of the Virgin Mary, the final resting place of Mary where she spent her last years. Believed to have been brought to this stone house by Saint John, the House of the Virgin Mary is a sacred site for both Christians and Muslims. Pilgrims flock to this location to pay their respects and honor the memory of the Virgin Mary, who lived in the house until her death.

After visiting the House of Virgin Mary, continue on to the ancient city of Ephesus. Located on the west coast of Asia Minor, Ephesus was once a major Greek and Roman city and is home to many iconic landmarks. Stroll through the ancient streets and marvel at the Celsus Library, the Temple of Hadrian, and the Trajan Fountain. End your journey at the Great Theater, where St. Paul is said to have preached. Ephesus is an extremely splendid city, with a rich history dating back thousands of years. As the capital of ancient Anatolia, it is home to many architectural wonders, including the Temple of Artemis, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. The Ephesus Archaeological Site also holds symbols of high-level urbanization, architecture, and religious history belonging to different civilizations, including the Hellenistic and Roman periods.

Enjoy a delicious open buffet lunch at a local Turkish restaurant before visiting a carpet cooperative in the afternoon. See firsthand how Turkish carpets are crafted by skilled artisans using traditional techniques passed down through the generations. This is a unique opportunity to witness the artistry and skill that goes into creating these beautiful pieces of textile art.

The Basilica of St. John is an awe-inspiring sight, even in its ruined state. Large columns, frescos, and mosaics stand as a testament to the grandeur of this basilica, which was built during the reign of Emperor Justinian. Designed in the shape of a cross, the basilica was covered with six individual domes, the central one of which is thought to be directly above the burial site of St. John. Despite its ruins, the Basilica of St. John remains a beautiful and historic structure that should not be missed on any visit to Ephesus.

The Temple of Artemis (Diana), one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, is located in Ephesus. Built during the Hellenistic Age, this incredible structure was entirely made of marble and adorned with sculptured columns, capitals, and shafts. However, today, only the ruins of its foundations remain, as the area of Ephesus has turned into swamps over the centuries. Some of the most beautiful remaining parts of the temple can be found in the London British Museum, including relics dating back to the 6th century BC when the temple was surrounded by 36 huge columns. Later, during the 6th century BC, the Lydian King, Kreisos, ordered the temple to be enlarged. Most of the exhibits in the London British Museum belong to this period.

100% recommend if you’re looking for a tour with the most knowledgable (and fun!) guide! I really can’t spell my guide’s name (so sorry!) from Neon Tours but she was the most professional guide I have ever had. Her personality really made this tour enjoyable, as she set a great tone and atmosphere for the group. Her English was fantastic and she knew so much about Ephesus. I feel like I learnt a semester’s worth of history thanks to her! The pace of the tour was perfect, and our lunch stop was very tasty. The guide and driver took the necessary precautions very seriously to ensure everyone remained safe and healthy.

We took a private tour of Ephesus, House of Virgin Mary, and other surrounding places with Ahmad. It was the BEST decision we made, we had a truly wonderful time! Nazim is fantastic, cannot recommend him enough. Tour was well organized and thorough. Especially the Ephesus tour, Ahmad is up to date on all of the latest archaeologic finds. The lunch stop was also wonderful - great food, great cause teaching uneducated women weaving skills. We're able to see weaving demonstration and silk process. Cannot recommend this enough!

This tour was excellent, our tour guide Ceren was highly informative and knowledgeable. She allowed us enough time to explore on our own and provided us with very interesting information about the sites we visited. St Marys House was peaceful and an absolute must- PS take a piece of paper and a pen to leave your message in the wall. The walk in Ephasus was like walking through history - I just wish that I could remember every story. It was a really hot day so I am sure this is an event better experience in good weather. The lunch was amazing and even though I am allergic to carpets, the visit to the carpet factory was very interesting.
